What an evening!
Intermittent rain showers could not dampen the spirits of the 250 guests who gathered at the exquisite Sugar Bush Knolls home of Janet and David Dix. Coleman Foundation’s 23rd annual Right at Home benefit on Saturday, September 10th brought in over $67,000 to further the Foundation’s mission of supporting children, families and older adults in our community that are facing mental health and rehabilitation challenges.
Thank you to the Dix family for their warm hospitality. A special thank you to the Right at Home Committee for working hard to make the night a success.

Did you know?
Did you know — one person in four has a diagnosable mental illness? Yes, one in four — without regard to age, race, gender, or socioeconomic status.
Did you know — every hour of every day someone struggles with mental illness in our community.
You also may not realize that families, children, and individuals who seek help, counseling and treatment from Coleman Professional Services receive the care they need, regardless of their ability to pay.
That’s why Right At Home is such an important event.
Right At Home is the main fundraiser for the Coleman Foundation. The benefit helps raise community awareness about important mental health issues, while at the same time, raises funds to support accessible behavioral health services in our area.
Professional behavioral health options are now more important than ever. And thanks to the generosity of people like you, those who support Right At Home, people in need can continue to receive quality care, no matter what.
With the continued success of Right At Home, more and more people in our community are better equipped to achieve their full potential. And that’s certainly something to celebrate!
We look forward to you joining us. It’s a good time, for a great cause.

Some things just go together!!
On a crisp evening in the early fall of 1989, artist Jance Lentz Hatch and husband Tom, opened their home for the what would be the very first Right At Home benefit. Jan donated an oil painting of Davey Lake to the Coleman Foundation that was auctioned that evening. Since then, art has been an integral part of the Right at Home benefit.
The 2011 Right at Home Committee is pleased to announce that the Featured Artist for 2011 is Ben Bassham. Ben is an Emeritus Professor of Art History at Kent State University and has been a Right at Home artist for many years. His colorful and realistic views of the landscape reflect his travels to diverse parts of this country and Italy. Ben is donating two pieces this year. Those pieces could be yours in the annual art auction. You’ll have to be there September 10 to add your bid to the auction sheet. If you are not one of the lucky winners, don’t despair. You can purchase limited edition note cards, created exclusively for Right at Home, that are adorned with the images of the featured pieces.
Over the years, more than a hundred artists have contributed their time and their talent with the donations of incredible art in support of Coleman Foundation’s good works in the community.
Wait for it . . . It’s almost here . . .

Party like “Mad Men”
Early 60s glamour came to the Lake Royale home of Patty and Jay Falls on November 20. The Falls’ donated a Mad Men theme party to the silent auction at Right at Home. Jane and Mike Hornyak, also of Lake Royale, had the winning bid.
Guests donned suits and skinny ties, hats and pearls to reflect the fashion of the popular, award-winning television series, Mad Men, which is set in 1963. Food and drink for the evening were in the ’60s spirit as well – shrimp cocktail, French onion dip, deviled eggs and hi balls appropriately named after Mad Men characters. All enjoyed leafing through a collection of LIFE magazines from the early ’60s while a quiz on advertising slogans of the era challenged memories.
Enjoying the evening were hosts Jane and Mike Hornyak, guests JoAnn and Brad Dickerson, Margaret and Emilio Ferrara, Dee and Bob Kemp, Lynn and Mike Lemon, Nancy and Chas Madonio, Judy and John Rees and Diane Roberts. ( see photos in the Gallery)
What a Night!
Rare are the moments when love, art, friendship, laughter and joy simply radiate from a crowd. In fact, I can still feel the warmth of the wonderful night of our Right At Home event from Saturday.
More than 230 guests filled the Twin Lakes home for an evening filled with artful delights.
The party was held along the graceful shores of Twin Lakes recently purchased by Nancy and Jim Arthur. Renovations to the home led by sons Bill and Wally Arthur of Transohio Properties with much help from daughter Jenny Arthur continued until hours before the party. On September 11, the home was a welcoming, comfortable place to enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a beautiful view of the lake in spite of the falling rain. The highly anticipated Art Auction included two oil on panel pieces by featured artist Jance Lentz Hatch, “Bruised Pear” and “Sprouting Onion”. Note cards featuring images of the works were available for sale at the event and may be purchased still through the Coleman Foundation for (cf@coleman-foundation.com). The auction packages included a one-week stay at the Burbicks’ Cape Cod cottage, a week at Joanne and Ernest Smerdons’ Mazatlan condo, and a “Mad Men” theme party for 12 at the home of Patty and Jay Falls. Wall of Wine was a sellout and many flashed their new “jewels” following the Baubles ‘n’ Bubbles a champagne toast. Sherry Joy was the lucky winner of the true jewel – a lovely citrine ring.
Wow. What a fabulous evening.
We remain so grateful for everyone who made such magic happen. Especially to the Right at Home committee Nancy Arthur, Jenny Arthur, Ben Bassham, Joan Burbick, Sabrina Christian-Bennett, Sandra Graham, Joseph Marken, Cass & Bob Mayfield, Jacqueline Peck, Tamara Rynearson, Marilyn Sessions and Elizabeth Tomasko.
Thanks also to the Right at Home sponsors including The Burbick Foundation; the Fowler Family; McKay Bricker Gallery & Framing; Dalton’s Furniture; Elite Partners: Allen Aircraft, Bennett Land Title Agency, Nelson and Suzanne Burns, The Campus of Anna Maria, and Don Joseph Toyota/Scion; plus nearly 50 other businesses and individuals.
